Emptied Himself of All but LOVE

One of my favourite lines form the Wesleyan hymn we sang earlier is he “emptied himself of all but love” St Paul when writing to the Philippians said you should have the same attitude as Jesus who … of his own free will gave up all he had and took on the nature of a servant”

As followers of Jesus that is our role in life; to try and live like him, to have the same attitude. Of course it’s not easy but before you get too depressed by thinking how demanding it is I want to point out that by serving one another and by emptying ourselves of all but love we get blessed beyond measure and find out who we really are.

Let me make a connected theological point, which you may have to take away to digest but ....
